PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION FGASA Field Guide Level 1 Course Duration: 1 Month Cost: R14 500 (Including tuition, meals and accommodation) Course Dates: 2009 31 August - 30 September 5 October - 30 October 9 November - 9th December Training Venue: Thanda Private Game Reserve, Mkuze, KwaZulu Natal. Certification: On successful completion of the programme, qualifying learners will receive: FGASA Level 1 (Full) The following THETA Unit Standards are trained and assessed in this programme: US 8478 – Create and conduct a guided experience for customers US 8456 - Conduct a limited guided nature experience This programme offers training and assessment toward the FGASA Level 1 qualification. Although no prior guiding experience is required, this is an ideal course for someone that already has a lot of experience in guiding, hunting or related wildlife and eco-tourism industries, but need to obtain the correct qualification for registration as a legal guide. This programme provides any prospective student with the minimum required training to work legally as a guide Admission Requirements Minimum recommended age is 18. Valid Drivers Licence is necessary for Game Drive Assessment (assessment can also be conducted on foot) English Language Literacy Applicants must register with FGASA as members.
