Bhejane Graduate wins 2025 Safari Guide of the Year

Meet Jason Gipson: From Bhejane Graduate to Safari Guide of the Year

Jason Gipson’s rise from a Bhejane graduate to the 2025 Safari Guide of the Year shows what a career as a nature guide can truly offer. Nature guiding isn’t just a job—it connects you deeply with wildlife conservation and invites you to grow with every step. If you’re serious about turning your passion into a professional path, Jason’s story and the Bhejane advanced nature guiding course provide a clear example of what’s possible.

Why Consider a Nature Guiding Career?

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to wake up each day surrounded by wild landscapes, sharing your love for nature with others? A career as nature guide offers exactly that. This profession goes far beyond showing people animals. It’s about becoming a voice for wildlife conservation, educating guests about the environment, and playing an active role in protecting our natural world.

When you choose this path, you’re choosing continuous learning. The bush teaches you something new every single day. You’ll develop skills in tracking, ecology, safety, and storytelling. You’ll build leadership qualities that serve you throughout your life. And you’ll join a community of like-minded people who share your passion for the wild.

The best part? You get to make a real difference. Every guest you guide becomes more aware of conservation challenges. Every story you tell helps people appreciate the beauty and fragility of our ecosystems. As a professional wildlife guide, you become a bridge between nature and people.

Jason Gipson: A Bhejane Success Story

Jason Gipson completed the Bhejane advanced nature guiding course from 2016 to 2018. His time at Bhejane Nature Training laid the foundation for what would become an outstanding career. In 2025, Jason earned the title of Safari Guide of the Year, one of the highest honors a guide can receive in Southern Africa.

This achievement didn’t happen by chance. It came from years of dedication, hands-on experience, and the solid training he received as one of our Bhejane Guides. Jason’s story shows what’s possible when passion meets proper Nature Guide Training.

Reflecting on his time with us, Jason shared: “Bhejane Nature Training was an unforgettable time in my life. It gave me the chance to grow as a person and make friends that I will have forever. The Trails course was a highlight, and the mentorship I received shaped my approach to guiding and conservation. If I could do it all over again, I would!”

What Is the Safari Guide of the Year Competition?

The Safari Guide of the Year competition, organized by FGASA (Field Guides Association of Southern Africa) and industry partners, brings together the region’s top guides for a series of challenging tests. Participants face assessments in bush knowledge, tracking, hospitality, storytelling, safety protocols, and leadership.

Winning this competition means you’ve demonstrated the highest standards of the profession. It shows you can inspire guests, protect wildlife, and represent the guiding community at its best. For Jason Gipson, this award recognized years of hard work and the quality training he received through his advanced nature guiding course.

The competition also highlights the camaraderie within the guiding world. Guides support each other, share knowledge, and celebrate each other’s achievements. This spirit of community is something you’ll find throughout your nature guiding career.
